Grout works hard to keep your tile in place and to seal compromising cracks. But it also seems like it works just as hard at being an eyesore. Grout Restoration Works is familiar with all sorts of grout issues, so we want to help you solve yours.
Powdery Grout
Powdery grout is a common problem and it is caused by not using enough water when initially making the mixture. The only solution for this is to scrap the old and start anew. Dig out the old grout and replace it with properly mixed grout.
Pinholes
Ironically, pinholes in grout is caused by too much water in the grout mix. Once the water is dried or evaporated, it leaves behind tiny pockets. Thankfully, in order to fix this issue, you do not need to rip out the old grout. You can simply dampen the areas with holes, and then use your finger to push new grout into them. Have a damp cloth handy to wipe away any excess.
Discolored Grout
If an installer mistakenly adds too much water to the grout mixture and then allows it to sit in a bucket to thicken up, this can result in patches of discolored grout. For this, you have two options. One, you can remove the grout and start again. Or two, you can stain the entire area of grout so that the color matches.
Ultimately, there are many afflictions that can befall your grout. Big cracks, little cracks, crumbling grout. We provide a whole wealth of information addressing other grout issues, as well as tips on how to properly care for your grout on our blog page. Feel free to browse around for something useful to you. If you encounter a problem that you cannot or do not want to deal with on your own, do not be reluctant to call us today! We can handle any grout and tile issues you have in the most diligent and cost-effective way.
