Maybe you do not think too much about grout. It is the glue that holds together your beautiful tiles. What is there to think about other than scouring them with a toothbrush every so often? While cleaning grout is probably one of the least fun chores on your list, your choice of grout doesn’t have to be a bore!
Of course, neutrals like white and black grout are mainstays for a reason. They are low maintenance and compliment any color of tile you choose. A white penny tile with a white grout can make your monochrome dreams come true, whereas a swap to black grout with a subway tile can get you in the fast lane to classic and classy effortlessly.
If you are drawn to neutrals, you are not alone. But if you are in the midst of a kitchen or bathroom remodel and are wanting something a little bolder, do not be afraid to do so! If you are looking for inspiration, do a quick internet search and you are bound to be flooded with all the dreamy combinations you can think of. Glitzy gold grout with shiny black tiles or cool whites paired with a dainty touch of lemon-yellow grout, the possibilities are endless.
One word of caution is needed, however. White grout is popular for more reasons than just being agreeable with most furnishings. It is also easier to clean deeply with traditional cleaners like bleach without stripping or dulling the color. So, if you do choose to go with a brightly colored grout, be sure to clean it with a gentle cleanser so that it can maintain its color.
If you are itching to change the color of you grout now, there are a few ways you can do so. To make things easy, there are lots of different staining kits out there that make changing your grout color easy and inexpensive. Just keep in mind that you can only choose colors that are darker than your existing grout color. Once grout is a darker shade, a lighter color will not work on it.
Another way, of course, is to replace it. You can either do it yourself, or for less stress and time you can hire a professional, like us at Grout Restoration Works. Grout, like most things, has a limited lifespan and needs to be replaced every so often, so when that time comes, why not let us help you choose a color that you will love?
